David Serrano Sewell
Regional Vice President
David values teamwork and seeks to promote strategies that advance an organization’s mission. Starting in 1995 as an aide to Mayor Willie L. Brown, Jr., he represented the office on land use, real estate and permitting matters, often in a challenging environment. As a Deputy City Attorney for eleven years, he advised the S.F. International Airport on complex issues ranging from public contracting to compliance with the City Charter.
From 2004-2012, David was an appointee to the governing board to the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine, the states $3 Billion effort to fund stem cell research and facilities. He worked closely with university leaders, health care administrators, and patient advocates to direct funding to innovative projects that cemented California’s standing as a global leader in stem cell research.
Presently, he serves as Governor Brown’s appointee to the Medical Board of California.
David is active in civic affairs, supporting local non-profit boards; currently as a Director for the S.F. State University Foundation. He’s a veteran of numerous local and state political campaigns, and was a Delegate to two national conventions (Clinton/Gore 1996, Hillary Clinton 2008).
He is a 25 year San Francisco resident, living in the Mission District with his wife and daughter.
