The on-again, off-again campaign to add San Leandro Hospital to
Alameda Health System’s growing public network is back on track.
In a move that could save San Leandro Hospital as an acute-care
medical center, Sutter Health agreed Thursday to transfer the
money-losing 93-bed facility to Alameda Health System, which
hopes to keep the hospital open and end years of red ink.

to Alameda County Medical Center, and to sweeten the deal with
$22 million to help the county system run the hospital, according

The hospital, owned by nonprofit Sutter Health, has been losing
$2 million a month for the last several years, Sutter Health
