NorthBay Medical Center’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) has
been named a 2017 Guardian of Excellence Award® winner by Press
Ganey. The Guardian of Excellence Award recognizes top-performing
health care organizations that have consistently achieved the
95th percentile or above of performance in the category of the

Combine a bus crash, train derailment and dozens of wounded or
dead and you’ve got Thursday’s disaster drill, which linked
medical facilities statewide.
“It was put together by the California Department of Public
Health as part of the statewide Medical Health and exercise
program,” explained Lee Kiolbasa, emergency management
coordinator with NorthBay Healthcare. “It is the same scenario in
each county with all counties playing as if the disaster occurred

NorthBay Healthcare has begun construction on a new three-story,
77,000-square-foot hospital wing at its Fairfield location. The
construction is part of a four-year modernization project at
NorthBay Medical Center.
A Modern Healthcare analysis of earnings reports for about 200
hospitals and health systems, both not-for-profit and
investor-owned, found that hospital margins narrowed
significantly last year despite an improving economy.
Despite a buoyant stock market streak by some publicly traded
chains, healthcare providers as a group continue to operate with
slim and shrinking margins. Overall, a smaller percentage of
healthcare providers saw positive operating margins last year
