The Hospital Quality Institute (HQI) was established in April
2013 to realize statewide impact of improving patient safety and
quality care for all Californians, to accelerate the rate of
improvement, and to advance California as a national leader in
quality performance.
A collaboration of California Hospital Association, Hospital
Council – Northern and Central California, Hospital Association
of Southern California and Hospital Association of San Diego and
Imperial Counties.
Tom Insel, MD, behavioral health advisor to Gov. Newsom, recently
sat down with CHA’s President & CEO Carmela Coyle to discuss
behavioral health care challenges across California. The two
health care leaders discussed fundamental areas that impede
access to care for millions.
At the Hospital Quality Institute’s (HQI) annual conference,
Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC) was honored with the
2019 C. Duane Dauner Award, which recognizes outstanding
achievement in patient safety, quality improvement, and patient
experience. SCVMC won for developing a program to safely
discharge certain individuals experiencing homelessness.
