The American Red Cross operates two distribution sites and five blood donation centers. The region stages regular mobile blood drives throughout the greater Bay Area with the support of local businesses, civic groups, schools and other organizations. The region is currently the sole provider of blood and blood products to approximately 30 hospitals.
