RVP Roundup

In Santa Clara County, there were several key races at the state and local level:

  • State Senate District 15: The race for an open seat between Dave Cortese, member of the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors, and Anne Ravel, past chair of the California Fair Political Practices Commission, former deputy assistant attorney general in the U.S. Department of Justice, and former Santa Clara County Counsel, gained a lot of attention as the most expensive state Senate race. Dave Cortese won with 54.5% of the vote.
  • Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors: The District 3 open seat proved to be a heated race between former Sunnyvale Mayor Otto Lee and Assemblymember Kansen Chu, D-San Jose. It was clear early in the evening that Lee would win. The Hospital Council will reach out to him soon to extend an invitation to meet with our hospital leaders.
  • City of San Jose: Prior to the election, there was a 6-4 majority of pro-business council members. Two of the incumbents, Devora “Dev” Davis and Lan Diep, were being challenged by labor. Davis was successful in keeping her seat; however, Diep lost. This will change the structure of the City Council.
